Long before social media, TBS beamed Atlanta Braves baseball into living rooms across the nation — and #3 Dale Murphy was the face of America's Team, watched from coast to coast, including throughout Kentucky. Now his foundation is changing lives through youth baseball, global mission work, and community service.
Kentucky | A National Nonprofit Worth Supporting
Kentucky — The Bluegrass State, home to roughly 4.5 million people — is known for the Kentucky Derby and bluegrass country. Growing up anywhere in Kentucky during the 1980s meant a good chance of catching Dale Murphy and the Atlanta Braves on TBS nearly every night, a two-time NL MVP who became one of the most recognized athletes in the country. Today, the Dale Murphy Foundation channels that same spirit into youth programs, mission work, and breaking down barriers that keep kids off the field — including for families throughout Kentucky.
Before ESPN dominated sports, Ted Turner's TBS made the Atlanta Braves "America's Team" — broadcasting their games into homes across the country every night. And the face of that team? Number 3, Dale Murphy. Two-time NL MVP. Roberto Clemente Award winner.
That nationwide reach is exactly why the Dale Murphy Foundation connects with communities from Kentucky to every corner of the country. Whether you know Kentucky for Churchill Downs or you simply grew up watching Dale Murphy on TBS, you know what he stands for.

No financial barriers should sideline a kid. Through scholarships, equipment grants, and program support, DMF ensures every child can step up to the plate — regardless of zip code.
Children with special needs deserve inclusive sports experiences. We create adaptive programs and compassionate environments where every child is seen, valued, and celebrated.
Winning is temporary — character is lifelong. Through mentorship and intentional programming, we help young athletes become not just better players, but better humans.

About Dale Murphy
Dale Murphy isn't just a two-time National League MVP and one of the greatest Braves to ever wear the uniform — he's a man who has spent his entire life serving others. Named one of Sports Illustrated's "Athletes Who Care the Most," Dale has championed causes from Cystic Fibrosis to Operation Smile to Tunnels to Towers, earning the Roberto Clemente Award and induction into the World Humanitarian Hall of Fame.
His foundation brings that same all-out hustle to communities across the country — using baseball as a vehicle to build better lives, one child at a time. When #3 retired his cleats, he laced up a different kind of shoes — and he hasn't stopped running since.
"We're driven by our mission to create meaningful opportunities that empower individuals to succeed both on and off the field." — Dale & Nancy Murphy
